Green Energy–The heavy reliance on diesel consumption by the telecommunications industry which resulted due to an unreliable electricity grids to power its towers is a major energy challenge in the industry
With this in mind we are currently pursuing the development and testing of an alternative power source and application of better solutions that meets existing market and renewable energy requirements which will be deployed soonest.
These alternatives are also intended to address concerns about fossil fuels, such as its high carbon dioxide emissions and importantly reduce carbon footprint in the environment an important factor in global warming , which is one our corporate environmental responsibilities.
We currently have DC AC’s installed and been used in over 400 selected BTS cell site across the country.
We have an MOU with Siemens as technical partner for the construction a 70MW alternating current (MWac) photovoltaic (solar) power facility estimated at 170,000,000 USD in Panyam, Plateau States.
The project which is expected to be completed in 24 months will supply power to the national grid.
The 70MW AC solar power plant is the first in a series of large solar power generating facilities proposed by CT to leverage on the country’s solar resource in its bid to close the glaring power supply deficit.
